The Healing Place is where miracles happen every day—both big and small. We celebrate each one, because that’s the spirit of who we are and what we do.

Our GED program is a powerful example of this, and Bridget’s story is one of many that inspire confidence and hope in everyone we serve.

Bridget struggled with addiction, which eventually led to a four-month jail sentence on a third-degree burglary charge. During those months, she found herself at a crossroads and began reflecting on the direction of her life.

When she was released, she had four months of sobriety behind her—but she was afraid of falling back into old patterns. Determined to stay clean, Bridget made the decision to come to The Healing Place on her own. Now, nine months sober, she’s thriving.

As she progressed in the program, Bridget reached a phase where clients could enroll in GED classes. She eagerly signed up and connected with Miss Jenny, who has supported and guided her throughout the process.

For Bridget, the GED program at The Healing Place is more than just an educational opportunity—it’s a source of confidence, growth, and purpose. Each day in the program brings new knowledge, wisdom, and a deeper sense of understanding. It’s helping her build the self-esteem she needs to pursue her long-term goals: staying sober, finding stable employment, buying a home, and providing for her children. Bridget also dreams of giving back to the community that has supported her, whether through volunteer work, church involvement, or simply staying connected to a positive support system. She sees the GED process as a miracle—an essential part of her journey toward healing and success. With encouragement from the community around her, whom she lovingly refers to as “God’s little helpers,” Bridget continues to move forward with hope and determination.
