Struggle to Strength: A Son’s Letter to The Healing Place

The Healing Place,

Strength is usually defined as “the capacity to withstand great force or pressure.” But when I think of strength, I think of my mom.

I’m Jordan, and I just want to tell you what your support has meant for families like mine. A few years ago, my mom decided to get sober. Life had been tough for her—and for me too. But now, thanks to programs like The Healing Place, I get to see the mom I always knew was there.

Every day, I see her growing stronger, more confident, and more present. We’re having moments I never thought we’d get—celebrating my birthdays, talking about my future, and laughing together at dinner. These are moments I’ll hold onto forever, and they’re possible because of people like you who believe in second chances.

Thank you for helping make families like mine whole again. My mom’s proof that recovery is real, that change is possible, and that love and strength can be rebuilt. I’m so proud of her—and grateful to you.

A grateful son,

Jordan

The Healing Place is a haven where lives are restored, broken hearts are mended, and hope is reignited. There is a special spirit that exists within the walls of The Healing Place, and it seems to shine brightest during the holiday season. While the holidays can sometimes be challenging for those in recovery, they also provide a meaningful opportunity for reflection, gratitude, and hope. Chandra and Jordan are simply one example of the transformation and strength that comes from the love, support, and dedication of our community. Together, we can make this season one of healing and hope.
